At a young age, Lauren Curet became a published playwright when her collaborated work Girl Power: Voices of a Generation debuted at the NYC International Fringe Festival. During her writing career, Lauren’s play Therapy received critical acclaim when it reached the semi-finals of New York’s Long Island City One Act Play Festival and the finals of Los Angeles’s Avante Garage’s Word Power festival. In more recent history, Lauren was a collaborative writer for the devised play According to This… She is an alumna of the prestigious HBMG Foundation’s Winter Playwright retreat where her full-length play Maya got its first reading. Recently, she has been using her writing skills to create stand-alone monologues, short sketches, and short films. Most recently, Lauren became a three-time award-winner with her solo show Is Krishna There? including the 2023 Hollywood Fringe Scholarship.

Is Krishna There? is a solo show based on the life of Begum Akhtar.
I wrote Is Krishna There? as an homage to my Hindu roots as well as a love letter to my mother who sacrificed everything so that I can experience a life in the arts.
Awarded: 2023 Hollywood Fringe Festival Scholarship, Fringe Runway Winner, and Splash Award winner.

Therapy follows a therapy session of a rape victim who is desperately trying to escape the reality she has endured. Based on true events, Therapy touches on the realities of being a young woman of color in today’s college system as well as the harsh repercussions that comes with trauma.

Still in its infancy, Maya follows the love story of an anxiety-ridden Marisol and a passionate James through the eyes of their unborn daughter Maya. This dark comedy delves into the reality of having a partner that suffers from PTSD and how sometimes life may not always take the path that we want.
